Brisbane Seo - The Amazing Race
Why are SEO’s trying to Rank For “Brisbane SEO”
Okay so I have finally made this web page into a blog, I know big surprise and all! I am really going to enjoy posting on this blog because there is no pressure too post daily or deliver “valuable” content to any body. That means I can post 17 times a day or once every 97 days and it doesn’t matter. If you are that way inclined feel free to Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us or even Stumble Upon this web page.
Today I am going to talk about a few of my favourite topics namely, Search Engine Optimization, Domaining and keyword research. Domainers make there living of buying, selling and occasionally developing domains. The Domain Industry is based on three things Keyword Research, Traffic and Profit Potential. The Search Engine Optimization [SEO] Industry is based on three things position, position, position [just kidding] it is based on Search Engine Results Pages [SERPs], Traffic and Conversion. If you combine those three it leads to a happy customer. If you don’t the customer is left wondering why they just spent money paying you for Search Engine Optimization.
Domainer’s and Search Engine Optimizers [SEO's] are very similar in a lot of ways, both are highly lucrative professions, both require a great deal of skill and proficiency, both are intensely competitive and both rely on keyword research tools such as Wordtracker try the free tool instead Free Wordtracker Tool too make money. Domainer’s and SEO’s both rely heavily on measuring statistics and metrics too make their living.
That is why it caught me off guard to discover so many Brisbane SEO firms competing for the terms “SEO Brisbane” and “Brisbane SEO.” If you head across to Wordtracker and search for SEO Brisbane and Brisbane SEO you will find that absolutely nobody is searching for these terms. I am sure that of the few people that search these terms most of them are SEO’s [Search Engine Optimizers] themselves.
Update: *I am a hypocrite and as expected I did start ranking in the top 10 for the term “Brisbane SEO” and started trying to rank there because of data released by Google that indicates Brisbane SEO gets around 140 visits last month. I still advocate that most of those are by us local SEO’s though, someone prove me wrong!?*
The reality is the the general public and most small and medium sized business owners have absolutely no idea what SEO is or stands for. So why would any SEO optimise their title tags for the terms “SEO Brisbane” and “Brisbane SEO” when nobody is searching for them. Would you hire these SEO’s? I wouldn’t trust an SEO with my website who cannot even look after the search engine marketing of their own website.
So Brisbane SEO’s its time to make some changes, either start raising awareness about what SEO is or adjust your Search Engine Marketing Strategy for your own firms before you start advising others. While Brisbane SEO might seem like a cool thing to rank for what’s the point if nobody outside the industry knows what it is.
SEO = Search Engine Optimization yet at the same time it’s important to remember it’s not just about improving search engine rankings it’s about generating more traffic, leads and sales for your customers. Preferably the final metric as well as making their life easier and hassle free and gaining the results in an ethical and ecological manner. Good riddance!

The reason many SEO firms want to rank highly for terms such as “Brisbane Seo” and “Seo Brisbane” is because it is a matter of prestige and pride between local SEO firms. Most SEO firms get the bulk of their clients from outside Search Engine Marketing or Internet Marketing.

Peter,
Very thought provoking post, I think a lot of Brisbane SEO firms just rank for those terms for the prestige.
