This Best Looking Man In Brisbane Competition has really gone too far!
More to the Point am I really the 11th “Best Looking Man” on the planet and is this the 15th “best Looking Site” on the Internet?
So today I decided to verify myself, Peter Laurent as the webmaster of peterlaurent.com on Google Webmaster Tools and I was surprised at what came up in the top search queries section. I was expecting I’d be ranked highly for “Peter Laurent” and “Best Looking Man in Brisbane” and I also expected I would be climbing in ranking for Brisbane SEO (I am currently 25th) in my attempt to make fun of other SEO professionals for ranking highly for a keyword nobody searches for while secretly wanting to be ranked highly for it.
While I’m not usually one to endorse ranking highly for keywords without out consistent traffic with commercial intent it is okay for good keywords like “best looking man in Brisbane” and “Brisbane SEO”. A few people have been questioning google’s credibility at delivering relevant results when it comes to the best looking man in Brisbane however, as a professional SEO I have assured them that Google always delivers the most relevant search results. The question is still open for debate though so I bid Google the question…
Google I am the “Best Looking Guy in Brisbane” or should I be number one for “Brisbane SEO”?
Do I truly deserve either title?
I guess only time will tell what our trusty friend Mr Google Algorithm thinks. However, I am pretty sure two of the other results I’m ranked for according to Google Webmaster Tool where never meant to happen. I was kind of surprised that according to Google Webmaster Tools I am ranked number 11 in the word for “Best Looking Man” forget Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom, this is proof that Google doesn’t find looks (images) as attractive as compelling personality (content). That being said I was also surprised that Google thought that site was the 15th “Best looking site” according to it’s Google.com rankings.
Let me ask you what do you think?
Now don’t get me wrong, I love this site, in a strange kind of way it’s very much apart of me and full credit to Nurudin Jauhari for the template, I’m just not sure if that is right. Although if Google thinks this is the 15th best looking site then it must be more attractive than it looks. Perhaps I should post pictures of attractive women or post a revealing picture of why Peter Newsome really took time off posting to his posts.

All jokes aside
It is amazing just what you can rank in Google for, take the example of Bruce Clay ranking number one for Search Engine Spam a few years ago. While what you rank for may be of assistance to your business, sometimes it can be to your business detriment take the Bruce Clay Search Engine Spam example for instance. While not every business is going to rank number one for “Search Engine Spam” like Bruce Clay did it is important to have an SEO go over your site to attempt to eliminate any negative Search Engine Page Results your business has. This is as important in SEO as it is it is in Pay Per Click. While I might not be complaining about being the 11th best looking man according to Google.com rankings, if that ranking was for “Worst Looking Man in Brisbane” my girlfriend might not be so impressed…

I think you and I are both lucky that the Google algorithm doesn’t have eyes
I also didn’t realise that this was a ‘competition’ as such… more just a bit of fun stuffing around with non-competitive terms, but I must say, the look on your face when you saw my site outrank yours for the first time was priceless:
What made me laugh was that out of the 91 hits I have gotten so far on the article, 43 have clicked on the Peter Newsome image. It’s all in good fun!
Peter.
That just goes to show how popular I am and how people are genuinely curious about what I got up to… next time I know you’re lurking around with a camera I’ll make sure I’ve had a shave ![]()

Interesting competition, how is it working out for you?
